The Kiebitz recreational area has its roots in 1922, when gravel mining began in the region. The extraction of the raw material led to the creation of lakes and water areas, which were gradually expanded into local recreation areas since 1966. Today the area is a place of rest and relaxation for locals and visitors alike.
A special highlight of the Kiebitz local recreation area is the picturesque promenade, which invites you to take a leisurely stroll and linger. Along the promenade is, among other things, the charming ice cream café Bönisch, which delights both young and old with its delicious ice cream flavors and coffee specialties. There is also the beach bar “Tiki-Bar” nearby, which offers a wide selection of refreshing drinks and snacks in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Kiebitz local recreation area offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Water sports enthusiasts will get their money's worth here: rowing and pedal boating are among the most popular activities on Lake Kiebitzer See. Those who prefer to stay on land can test their skills at mini golf or take a walk through the surrounding forests.
There are various beaches available for anyone looking to cool off. The textile beach is ideal for families and offers enough space for sunbathing and swimming. Dog lovers will find an area on the dog beach where their four-legged friends can run around and splash around to their heart's content. For those who prefer the feeling of freedom while swimming, there is also a separate nudist beach.
